VMware vFabric™ Hyperic® is the application monitoring component of the VMware vFabric Cloud Application Platform, enabling IT professionals to manage the performance and availability of custom Web applications in physical, virtual and cloud environments. With its deep VMware vCenter™ integration, Hyperic monitors your entire application infrastructure inventory, from code components down to VMware ESX®, and continually updates this inventory as virtual machines are started, stopped and vMotioned. How To Buy:

vFabric Hyperic is priced per machine. You need one vFabric Hyperic agent for each virtual machine, for each physical server with its own operating system, and for each network device you need to monitor. Some examples:

  • Example 1: Virtual machine. To monitor 100 virtual machines running on 10 vSphere hosts, you need licenses for 100 vFabric Hyperic agents. (You would not count the 10 vSphere hosts.)
  • Example 2: Physical servers. To monitor 50 physical servers (that are not running vSphere) you would need licenses for 50 vFabric Hyperic agents.
  • Example 3: Network devices. To monitor 200 network devices, you would need licenses to monitor all 200 devices.
